The Deiga, Kwadzo Dei XII, King of Peki, known in private life as Mr. David Korku Bansa, was born on August 3, 1954, to Mr. Bernhard Kwadzo Bansa of the Amega Kofi Royal Family of Adivieyi, Blengo - Peki and Madam Elizabeth Adzoavi Ge of the Vusor Royal Family of Avetile-Peki, all in the South Dayi Constituency of the Volta Region.
Deiga, Kwadzo Dei XII had his primary and middle school education at E.P. Primary and Middle Mixed Boarding School, at Blengo-Peki.
He started his secondary school education from Peki Secondary School and continued at Swedru Secondary School at Agona Swedru in the Central Region, where he obtained his G.C.E “O” Level Certificate. He was very successful and therefore was called to continue his Sixth Form education at the Presbyterian Boys Secondary
School (PRESEC), Legon, where he obtained his G.C.E. Advanced Level Certificate in Science. Deiga Kwadzo Dei XII holds a BSc and two Master of Philosophy degrees in Food and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds several other certificates from the professional development programmes he undertook.
Deiga, Kwadzo Dei XII as a young and energetic man worked briefly as a Science Tutor in the Anfoega Secondary School in the then Kpando District of the Volta Region. During the exodus of teachers to Nigeria, Deiga was not left out as he went to teach in Annunciation School, Ikere-Ekiti, in the Ondo State of Nigeria. He later came back after a while to teach in the Tema Technical Institute at Tema after which he joined the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission as a Research Scientist where he worked for additional 23 years.
Togbe Kwadzo Dei XII distinguished himself wherever he found himself. He is intelligent and diligent with his work which enabled him to receive several accolades locally and internationally and as usual of him has published several books to his credit in the area of food and nutritional sciences.
Until his retirement from the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission in 2014, he had served on several local and national committees with special interest in education, nutrition and health of women and children where he contributed immensely to the development and progress of the Commission and the nation.
He was P.T.A. Chairman and Member, Board of Governors of Tema Secondary School. He also served as a Vice Chairman, P.T.A. GAEC Basic Schools and Member of the GAEC Schools Management Committee for several years.
Deiga, Kwadzo Dei XII is married to Mrs. Rejoice Yawa Bansa, deputy director of Nursing, Ga East Municipal Health Directorate, Abokobi, Greater Accra Region. Their union is blessed with two sons Elikem Korku Bansa, 23 years of age and Delali Kojo Bansa.
